Yeah. I guess it's "baby steps"... in more ways than one.

Thanks for reading the post.

Looks like you’re gonna have another handful news cycle ahead of you in light of the recent events at the Supreme Court.

Isn't this law stating the very minimum that could/should be afforded to pregnant women? Almost weird that it has to be a law. Oh sorry, I forgot where I am - here in workaholic land land. And the rest of us who want a life and a family and a more-than-fair wage? We will have to keep being grateful for the crumbs. Gloves, off, Bob. We'll be at ringside waiting.

Yeah, Barbara. Despite using the term "Independence Day," I agree that PWFA is minimal. And it has significant qualifications (undue hardship for the business), though these are in line with the ADA. But, as I think you're suggesting ("grateful for bread crumbs") it is offering some support and recourse for pregnant workers who previously had very little.

Keep the gloves off, or at least hang them up once in a while, Bob. It suits you :-).

Thanks for highlighting this crucial legislation. It's good to see the US attempting to move forward in an area where it appears to have to have been regressing in recent times.

I'd love to say that things are better this side of the pond...well, they are but to say so might give the impression that it's good enough. We all have a long road to walk here.

Thanks, Colin. I have to admit that after clicking "Publish" for a post like this, I get an immediate rush of panic and regret. Occasional validation like yours helps. :)

It's also good to get the UK perspective on a topic like this. I didn't have a chance to research the international scene (and I don't want to give short shrift to Heigh Ho's readers in Europe, Canada, and Australia). Your input is important and helpful.
